HUNTLEY SCHOOL OF EQUITATION

About us

Huntley School of Equitation is set in the centre of 500 acres of mixed farmland and is part of Huntley Estate owned by Mrs T Freeman. The riding school was established in 1979 by Mrs Freeman and Mrs Carole Broad and is British Horse Society Approved.

Our chief instructor Carole Broad is a Fellow of the BHS and a chief examiner for the BHS; she is also Chairman of the BHS Exams Advisory Group.

Our yard manager is Judith Murphy who is a BHS Instructor and has been with us since 1992.

Our facilities include a 20 x 40m covered school, a 20 x 60m all weather arena, show jumps up to BSJA standard and various cross-country fences.

Throughout the year we run exams for the BHS, Pony Club and British Riding Club.

We also hold a large number of affiliated and unaffiliated dressage competitions and hire our facilities out to Universities, local Riding Clubs and Pony Clubs for their competitions and training days.
From Monday to Friday the school operates mainly as a student-training centre with intensive training from 9.30 am to 1 pm. A typical morning will consist of a combination of work on the flat, jumping, lungeing, teaching practice, theoretical and practical stable management to suit individual needs.
In the afternoons, early evenings and throughout the day on Saturday we are a more typical “riding school” taking private and group lessons for the general public.
